Maple Leafs wayward goaltender Joseph Woll got back on the ice Saturday and, for his teammates, it was a welcome return.
“We’re really happy Joe’s rejoining the group,” veteran centre John Tavares said. “We’ve really missed him, not just on the ice but certainly as part of our team.
“He’s been here for a number of years and we love him as a guy. He’s a big part of the group … his personality and the competitiveness he brings, the attention to detail he brings to his game.
“Looking forward to having him back here. We’ve missed him.”
It’s fair to say Woll’s departure early for personal reasons in training camp through the team’s goaltending plans for a loop. The team scrambled to find a replacement, getting veteran James Reimer on a professional tryout before grabbing Cayden Primeau
