Congratulations to First State Military Academy, winner of the Delaware Online poll to determine the best Class 1A cheerleading squad in Delaware high school football.

The Bulldogs received 35.5% of more than 72,000 votes cast to top a field of 14 squads. Christiana finished second, with Conrad coming in third.

All three squads will advance to the final round of voting in November, when they will go against the best from Class 2A and Class 3A to determine the overall champion.

Voting to select the best cheerleading squad in Class 2A will begin Oct. 27 and run through midnight Oct. 30. The schools involved will be Archmere, Delaware Military Academy, Delmar, Howard, Indian River, Lake Forest, Laurel, Milford, Mount Pleasant, Odessa, Polytech, Red Lion Christian, Saint Mark’s, Sussex Tech
