A woman from Kanpur’s Babupurwa area has alleged that she was forced to undergo two abortions and subjected to severe sexual and physical abuse by her husband’s family for not giving birth to a male child.

According to the complaint, the victim, Mehak Khan, married Shah Faheed in 2021, who was working in Dubai at the time. Soon after the wedding, her jewellery was allegedly taken away.

Faheed later decided to quit his job abroad to start a business in India and demanded that Mehak bring money and a car from her parents. When she refused, she was reportedly assaulted several times, resulting in serious spinal injuries.
