Currently, the Medina County Park District (MCPD) manages 24 parks/preserves, 60 trails, and 9,000 acres. That last figure represents about 3.3% of the entire county. Acquired land is often farmed for five, 10, or in some cases more than 20 years before park development takes place. Ensuring financial support that spans across years of project development and ongoing maintenance cost is critical for our success.
The Board of Commissioners and the park district’s administration understand that property taxes are under a microscope throughout Ohio. Locally, that is true, particularly since reappraisal letters were sent out by the auditor’s office in September. We don’t take that lightly as this has affected us as well.
