In the 127th episode of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed happiness over the increased presence of indigenous dog breeds in the BSF and CRPF contingents. Recalling that he had first highlighted Indian dog breeds five years ago on the programme, PM Modi said the forces have made significant progress in adopting and training local breeds.

He noted that the BSF’s National Training Centre for dogs in Tekanpur, Gwalior, focuses on breeds such as the Rampur Hound from Uttar Pradesh and the Mudhol Hound from Karnataka and Maharashtra. Similarly, the CRPF’s Dog Breeding and Training School in Bengaluru trains indigenous breeds including Mongrels, Mudhol Hounds, Kombai, and Pandikona.
