US President Donald Trump praised Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, calling them “great people", while expressing confidence that Washington will soon help resolve the ongoing Pakistan-Afghanistan conflict.

Trump made the remarks while speaking to reporters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where he witnessed the signing of a peace agreement between Thailand and Cambodia — a deal he said marked the end of yet another regional conflict.

“This is going to be a very long peace," Trump told journalists, adding that his administration had ended eight wars in eight months. “We’re averaging one a month," he claimed.
