When Sandy Stimpson walked into Government Plaza in 2013, he removed the door to the mayor’s office to symbolize transparency and reflect his “One Mobile” campaign theme that helped him win that year’s mayoral race.

Twelve years later, the 73-year-old mayor is packing up that same office and reflecting on a tenure his supporters call one of the most consequential in Mobile’s history.
