SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Statistically speaking, Montana State should have blown the game open much sooner.
The Bobcats out-gained Cal Poly 466-241 in total yardage, won time of possession by 13 minutes and ran 30 more plays. The Mustangs didn’t gain a first down until the second quarter, and MSU had 14 more first downs in total (26-12). MSU was 8 for 15 on third downs and 6 for 7 in the red zone.
MSU head coach Brent Vigen looked up at the scoreboard and felt like his team should have built a greater lead based on those numbers. The Bobcats won 34-17 over Cal Poly Saturday at Alex G.
