THIBODAUX, La. (KPLC) - The McNeese Cowboys couldn’t keep their winning momentum rolling on the road, falling to Nicholls 31-7.
Nicholls overpowered the Pokes on the ground, racking up 303 total rushing yards. The Colonels finished the game with 464 total yards. McNeese’s offense was kept to just 94 rushing yards and 264 total yards.
It was a slow start for McNeese in the first quarter, tallying just 36 total yards compared to the Colonels 174 yards in the first 15 minutes. The Pokes brought it within three after Jake Strong threw a 20-yard pass to Logan Mauldin in the second quarter, but McNeese was unable to reach the end zone after that.
