The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a freeze warning for much of western and central New York from 11 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, through 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 27.
The warning includes Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, Northern Cayuga, Northern Erie, and Genesee counties -covering cities such as Buffalo, Rochester, Batavia, Medina, Newark, and Niagara Falls.
Forecasters say overnight lows will drop into the upper 20s to near 30 degrees, except in areas close to the Lake Ontario shoreline.
Impacts
The cold temperatures could kill crops, harm sensitive plants, and damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
What you should do
Residents are advised to cover or bring indoors any tender vegetation and protect outdoor pipes and sprinkler systems to prevent freezing.
