New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani recently said her aunt stopped taking the subway after 9/11 because she did not feel safe in her hijab. When Mamdani said this, he had tears in his eyes, but he became a butt of banter for Republicans as they mocked Mamdani for making 9/11 about his aunt. Vice President JD Vance mocked and wrote: "According to Zohran, the real victim of 9.11 was his auntie who got some (allegedly) bad looks."
