Man kills wife while daughter sleeps in the same room, then tells police it was a 'suicide'

In yet another case of murder in the national capital, a 40-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her husband at their home in northwest Delhi’s Keshav Puram, after which he called the police and claimed that she had died by suicide.

According to the police, the accused, who has been identified as Dinesh Sharma, strangled his wife, Sushma Sharma, before contacting authorities to report her “suicide.”

When police arrived at the scene, they found the woman’s body lying on the floor, while the couple’s 11-year-old daughter was asleep on the bed in the same room.

During questioning, Dinesh allegedly confessed to killing his wife by smothering her with a pillow. He works as a priest in a local temple, NDTV reported. The woman’s body was sent to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital for a post-mortem
