Sixteen men from Haryana's Karnal district who were deported from the United States have been handed over to their families, police said on Sunday. According to officials, the youths had gone to the US through illegal channels after paying large sums of money.

DSP Sandeep informed that the flight carrying the deported Indians arrived in Delhi on Saturday night following which the officials brought the group from Delhi to Karnal. All 16 have been handed over to their families and police are checking how they travelled to the US.

Earlier in July, the the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has informed that US has deported 1,563 Indian nationals since the day Donald Trump assumed office as President for a second term. Most of the deportees have been sent back on commercial flights.
