WASHINGTON — Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits will not be disbursed in November, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
After weeks of warning the ongoing federal government shutdown could impact SNAP, the USDA posted a message on its website Saturday saying next month's benefits have officially been delayed.
"Bottom line, the well has run dry," the message reads. "At this time, there will be no benefits issued November 01."
The message, like messages displayed on numerous other federal websites, placed the blame on Democrats in the U.S. Senate.
