MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WDHN) -- The Alabama Department of Human Resources (DHR) received specific guidance from the United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) on Friday evening, October 24, 2025, regarding the suspension of SNAP benefits and procedures for the month of November due to the federal government shutdown.

Benefits issued to recipients' electronic benefit transfer (EBT) cards prior to November 1, 2025, will be valid at any SNAP-authorized merchant.
