DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) -- A woman is dead after an early morning fire in rural Houston County.

Houston County Coroner Robert Byrd identified the victim as 72-year-old Molly Hardrick.

First responders rushed to the 100 block of Pine Street in Madrid shortly after 1:00 a.m. on Monday and found a mobile home ablaze.

Coroner Byrd says firefighters were able to contain the fire in the middle of the trailer after one hour, and Hardick's body was found in a bathroom.

The coroner says Hardick's initial cause of death appears to be smoke inhalation, but her body has been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy.

The fire is under investigation by the Alabama Fire Marshal's Office.
