GALESBURG, Ill. (KWQC) - A man was charged with murder after a woman was found dead outside a Galesburg home, police said.

Galesburg police officers went to a house on North Soangetaha Road for a well-being check Sunday afternoon, according to a media release.

When officers got there, they found a dead woman outside the house. Police said it looked like the woman had blunt force trauma to her body, and officers didn’t find anyone else in or around the house.

On Monday, officers found David L. Nicholson Klingerman Jr., 29, at the home. Police said he was taken into custody as a person of interest, then arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

The woman’s identity and the cause of death are still pending autopsy results, officials said.
