The first passenger jet has landed at the new Western Sydney Airport in another landmark milestone.
A Boeing 737 RFS air tanker took off from Richmond RAAF Base on Tuesday morning and made the short flight to the airport, which is located in Badgery's Creek in south-west Sydney.
The plane left just after 8am, and plane spotters had gathered near Western Sydney Airport to see the plane come in to land.
Nearly half an hour later, the plane touched down without incident just before 8:40 am on the main runway, which is around three kilometres long.
The landing was part of a training exercise that will also take place at the airport, designed to test emergency services and response to a potential incident that could take place at the airport once it opens.
