CACTUS, Texas (KFDA) - Ruben visits the Cactus Fire Department and learns why it is important for them to grow as the town continues to grow.

Fire Chief Tim Nicholson says the fire department has been around for 40 years.

They went to a combination department and switched from all volunteer to both career and volunteer firefighters.

“We made that transition to combination fire department in 2020. I’ve been a fire chief here since 2017, so coming on eight years,” said Nicholson.

The department got a new fire truck because it’s important for them to expand.

Nicholson says they’re fortunate enough that their equipment is nice.
