SPOKANE, Wash. — A juvenile suspect accused of killing a woman in a hit-and-run crash back in July found himself before a Spokane County judge for an alleged ankle monitor violation on Tuesday.

The family of the woman killed says every time they walk through the courthouse doors, it feels like their grieving process restarts.

48-year-old Sarah Doxey was found by police unresponsive in the road in the early morning hours of July 16 near East 49th Avenue and South Perry Street. Spokane police said officers responded to a report of a car hitting a woman.

Witnesses said the driver allegedly fled the scene on foot. Police arrested the driver, identified as a then-17-year-old, about two miles away. According to court documents, Doxey was out on a run with a friend when she was hit by an SUV
