There was to be no eloquent speech about the team’s path back to Highmark Stadium.
On a chilly Tuesday night at Gateway High School, Fox Chapel coach Erik Ingram wasn’t about to impart extensive thoughts about the season and how the Foxes managed to earn a second-consecutive trip to the WPIAL Class 4A finals.
So, he didn’t. As the players basked in the joy of Tuesday’s 3-0 semifinal win against No. 3 Plum (14-3-2), Ingram ensured he would keep things short and sweet. And he sure did.
“We’ve got a hell of a lot of soccer left,” was all he said before being met with a big cheer.
Then, the team scurried off to the bus. Indeed, No. 2 Fox Chapel (15-2-0) does have a good bit of soccer ahead. With the victory, the Foxes will head back to the WPIAL finals to face off against Section 3 foe Sen
