KANEOHE (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 71-year-old woman was pronounced dead Tuesday after officials say she was apparently hit by a vehicle.
The incident occurred at around 6 p.m. on Kahekili Highway near Haiku Road.
Emergency Medical Services said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
EMS said the driver, a 69-year-old woman, declined to be taken to the hospital.
Police shut down the highway in both directions between Haiku Road and Hui Iwa Street to investigate and clear the scene.
This marks Oahu’s 72nd traffic fatality in 2025, compared to compared to 38 at the same time in 2024.
This comes just hours after the death of a 17-year-old girl following a pedestrian crash in Nanakuli.
