New Delhi, Oct 29: Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri lauded the Oilfields Regulation & Development Amendment Act, 2025, as a significant reform for Bharat’s energy future, aimed at achieving energy independence.

The Act modernizes regulations from 1948, introducing a uniform petroleum lease system and expanding scope to include coal bed methane, shale gas, and solar systems.

Puri emphasized that these changes will expedite approvals and boost investor confidence, contributing to India’s transformation into a global energy driver. He noted India’s growing refining capacity, achievements in biofuels, and the government’s commitment to a modern energy ecosystem.
