Benchmark indices extended their morning gains at mid-session on Wednesday, with the Sensex rising 395.17 points or 0.47 per cent to 85,023.33 and the Nifty advancing 140.20 points or 0.54 per cent to 26,076.40, driven by sustained buying in metal, infrastructure and select Adani group stocks.
The Sensex touched an intraday high of 85,041.86, while the Nifty climbed to 26,084.10, building on the positive momentum from the opening session that was supported by strong foreign institutional investor inflows of ₹10,399 crore on Tuesday and firm global cues.
