The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation ( BMC ) will distribute new tablets to 19,317 students of Class IX in Marathi, Urdu, Hindi and English medium municipal schools.
The tablets will come with a one-year warranty and four years of maintenance. M/s Skill Tree Consulting Private Limited has been appointed for the procurement, which includes e-content and maintenance services.
The total cost of this is INR 49.19 crore. That is, approximately INR 25,464 per student.
The BMC launched the Tablet Distribution Scheme in 2015 to promote digital learning among students. This initiative continued till 2018 for three years and also in 2021-22.
