LOS ANGELES— Keys to victory for the Blue Jays in Game 5 of the World Series against the Dodgers on Wednesday night:
Make Snell work, again
The Jays had the lowest strikeout rate in the major leagues in the regular season and regularly drove elite starting pitchers out of games early. The trend has continued through the playoffs, but they’ve only been able to grind down half the Dodgers’ starting pitchers so far.
In the opener, they knocked Blake Snell out after 100 pitches without retiring a batter in the sixth inning. He returns for Game 5.
In Game 3, Tyler Glasnow left 13 1/3 innings for his bullpen, after 4 2/3 frames and 85 pitches.
But Yoshinobu Yamamoto tossed a 105-pitch complete game in Game 2, and the Jays couldn’t wear down Shohei Ohtani in Game 4, requiring him
