Indian equity markets ended higher on Tuesday, with benchmark indices extending their upward momentum. The Nifty 50 closed above the 26,000 mark, while the Sensex settled just below the 85,000 level, driven by gains in oil & gas, metal, and media stocks.

The Sensex gained 400 points, or 0.44%, to close at 84,997.13, after briefly crossing the 85,000 level during intraday trade. The Nifty 50 advanced 117.70 points (0.45%) to end at 26,053.90, marking a firm close for the broader market.

Among the top Nifty gainers were Adani Enterprises, Power Grid Corp, NTPC, Adani Ports, and JSW Steel, while Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Maruti Suzuki, Eicher Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Coal India ended among the losers.
