Bengaluru: Doctors at Narayana Health City successfully executed a robotic-assisted closure of a ventricular septal defect (VSD) in children.
Led by Dr. Raghu M G , Senior Consultant, Cardiothoracic Surgery , the procedures were carried out through small thoracic ports, and as per the hospital, "all patients recovered without the need for blood transfusions."
“By combining robotic precision with minimally invasive techniques , we are able to treat congenital heart defects, and our young patients recover faster, with less discomfort and minimal scars,” the doctor said.
According to Narayana, the robotic system provides surgeons with three-dimensional, high-definition visualization and enhanced dexterity, enabling precise maneuvers inside a child's small heart chambers.
