The Special Court in Bhubaneswar today convicted Raghunatha Mallick, the retired Assistant Drugs Controller, in a disproportionate assets (DA) case filed by Odisha Vigilance.
The court found Mallick guilty under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for amassing assets beyond his known sources of income. It sentenced him to two years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹1,00,000.
Following the verdict, Odisha Vigilance confirmed that it would approach the competent authority to initiate proceedings for the stoppage of Mallick’s pension. Officials emphasized that the conviction reinforces their commitment to holding public servants accountable.
