HORSHAM — Taylor Houtz decided she was going to just go for it.
The Villa Joseph Marie senior isn’t playing soccer in college, so whenever this Jems season ends, it will mark the end of her career. She wasn’t interested in that happening Tuesday night so when she was able to settle the ball at her feet and two minutes left in the District 1 Class 2A title game against Springfield (Montco) in a tie game, Houtz was going to take a chance.
Houtz was able to set herself up for a gem of a shot, her strike with 2:09 left lifting the top-seeded Jems to a 3-2 win over a very good No. 3 Spartans team in a thriller at Hatboro-Horsham High School.
