The ninth-seeded South Medford Panthers (21-5) will play host to the No. 24 Clackamas Cavaliers (12-12) on Wednesday night in Round 1 of the Oregon 6A volleyball state championship playoffs .

Coach Robin Akpan’s Panthers enter the playoffs having won five of their past six matches, including a 3-0 win over Grants Pass in the regular-season finale last Thursday.

The Cavaliers, coached by Mekeala Bankofier, started the season with seven consecutive victories but now have lost their past four matches.

Clackamas and South Medford have not met this season.

Opening serve is set for 6 p.m. PT on Wednesday, October 29, with a live TV broadcast on NFHS Network .
