PHOENIX — A law enforcement situation caused severe delays on I-17 in the north Valley on Wednesday after a shooting involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

ICE officers initiated a traffic stop on a car driven by an undocumented migrant from Honduras. The driver initially stopped and then "began to pull away." ICE said the driver allegedly began speeding away, in the path of an officer.

The officer discharged two shots at the driver's vehicle. ICE said the officer was taken to a hospital for evaluation and the driver was also taken to the hospital for an injury and is in stable condition.

DPS said the shooting resulting in the roadway being closed for an extended period of time.

The FBI will be investigating the shooting.
