LIND, Wis. (WFRV) - One person is dead and another is hurt after a driver and passenger were both trapped in a vehicle following a crash Friday night in Waupaca County.

According to a release from the Waupaca County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded at 8:44 p.m. for reports of a single-vehicle crash on Southwood Drive and County Highway E in the Township of Lind.

Officials say a vehicle heading eastbound on Southwood Drive hit a tree and left both the driver and a passenger trapped inside following the crash.

Crews were able to extricate the driver and the passenger from the vehicle and take them via ambulance to ThedaCare Neenah to be treated for their injuries.

As of Monday, the Sheriff's Office reports that the driver of the vehicle died in the hospital due to the injuries suffer
