Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser announced Tuesday that the state had joined nearly two dozen others in a lawsuit filed against the U.S. Department of Agriculture, claiming federal officials’ plan to suspend Supplemental Nutrition Aid Program benefits next month is unlawful. The federal program colloquially known as “food stamps” is administered by the agency, which also handles numerous farm-related affairs.
