For the first time, Donald Trump appeared to acknowledge on Wednesday that he is constitutionally barred from seeking a third term in office. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on his way to Gyeongju, South Korea, Trump said, “I have my highest poll numbers that I've ever had, and, you know, based on what I read, I guess I'm not allowed to run. So, we'll see what happens.”

While Trump lamented the restriction, he added, “I would say that if you read it, it’s pretty clear. I’m not allowed to run. It’s too bad, but we have a lot of great people.” The U.S. Constitution’s 22nd Amendment limits presidents to two elected terms, a rule Trump has flirted with challenging in past statements.
