Much of Iowa saw rainfall ahead of the Halloween weekend.
After decades of telling jokes and collecting candy a day early, 2025 marks the first year Des Moines will not host Beggars' Night, meaning residents will trick-or-treat on Oct. 31.
A rainy Oct. 30 in 2024 pushed trick-or-treating to the following day. The unfortunate timing and lack of public support ultimately buried Beggars' Night.
Now, children of the Des Moines metro will take to the streets on Oct. 31. No need to ask why the chicken crossed the road to get some candy, but changing the date doesn't alter Mother Nature.
How much rain did Des Moines get?
Des Moines had a total of 0.71 inches of rain from Monday, Oct. 27 to 9 a.m. Oct. 29. A light rain fell over the metro for much of the day.
