Large fire reported at west Houston apartment complex, several rescued by Houston firefighters

Fire crews are responding to a reported fire on Olympia Drive and Hayes Road.

More than 50 firefighters are battling the blaze defensively from the outside. Multiple people have been rescued from the scene.

Per the Houston Fire Department PIO, the call came in at 8:33 a.m. as a 211 alarm fire.

Units from multiple stations have been dispatched. Sky 2 was over the fire.

Authorities are urging residents in the area to avoid the block and allow emergency responders to work safely.
