Calm, clear nights are in the forecast, and that could indicate the first fall frost.
Patchy front forms when ground-level air cools to its dew point. This is more likely to occur when we have clear skies and light winds in the forecast, which we do, especially as we get closer to the weekend.
Therefore, there’s a small-to-moderate chance of some patchy frost showing up inland—mainly around southeast Georgia and north and west of Jacksonville, especially near and north of I-10.
The coolest spots, like Waycross, Hilliard, and Glen St. Marys, have about a 30–40% chance of dipping to 36°F or lower. If it happens, it’ll be the first frost of the season!
