LSU junior linebacker Whit Weeks did not practice on Tuesday but is trending in the right direction when it comes to his status for next Saturday's game at Alabama, LSU interim coach Frank Wilson said Wednesday.

Weeks has missed LSU's last two games with a bone bruise on his ankle. It's the same ankle he injured during the Texas Bowl last season and kept him out for spring practices earlier this year.

"I'm optimistic more now than ever before that the probability of him playing in this game is a reality," Wilson said. "I don't know that for a fact just yet. It will need to continue to trend in the right direction. But he had a very, very productive day from a rehabilitation standpoint, from a diagnostic standpoint on his status."
