Long after its demolition, you can take a virtual tour of the exterior of the Penguin Court mansion owned by the Scaife family in Ligonier.
The Brandywine Conservancy, which owns the more than 923-acre Penguin Court property, will present two public events featuring a new immersive augmented reality experience of the Scaife mansion's exterior during guided tours of the property, which includes woods, meadows, a reservoir and pond, a greenhouse and a conservatory.
The events are scheduled for 10 a.m.-noon Thursday, Oct. 30, and 9-11 a.m. Nov. 4. Tickets are $20 at brandywine.org/events. The Nov. 4 program is sold out but there is a waiting list.
Richard Mellon Scaife razed Penguin Court, his parents’ 1930s mansion, in 1966 and bequeathed the site to the Brandywine Conservancy in 2015.
