MINGO COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - A man from Pikeville, KY, was charged following a fatal hit-and-run incident in Mingo County in 2023.

The hit-and-run occurred on June 26, 2023, after troopers from the West Virginia State Police Williamson Detachment responded to the community of Edgarton on West Virginia State Route 49, according to a criminal complaint.

The crash involved a moped and an older model of a black Ford Explorer, troopers said.

The black Ford Explorer fled the scene after hitting the moped in an unknown direction, and Mingo 911 was unable to find a registration number for the vehicle.

The victim driving the moped was transported for medical treatment following the crash.
