BBC Morning Live's Dr Punam Krishan has issued a warning to individuals taking proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) such as omeprazole for ailments including heartburn, acid reflux, and indigestion.

Across the UK, one in four adults experiences acid reflux, with numerous people encountering it at various points throughout their lives, especially after consuming large meals.

Individuals who suffer from it frequently may be given PPIs like omeprazole to assist in managing their symptoms.

However, Dr Punam has explained why those taking the medication need to be careful, particularly if they are using it over an extended period, and stresses the crucial importance of having regular check-ups.
