SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Thirty-five-year-old Jennifer Lynn Rathe from Schaller, Iowa, was charged with attempted murder, which is a class B felony that could lead to up to 25 years in prison.
According to court documents on September 15th, 2025, the defendant, Rathe, attempted to cause the death of Paulus Edmund in Sac County by cutting their throat with a knife before attempting to stab Edmund with the knife.
This unlawful and intentional act was not under circumstances that would justify the defendant’s actions.
Rathe is also being charged with willful injury - causing serious injury, which is a class C felony that has a potential of ten years and a fine up to $10,245.
Rathe entered a plea of not guilty to all charges on October 23.
A jury trial is scheduled at 9 AM on December 9 at Sac
