GROVETOWN, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A Grovetown High School student was found with a gun in his book bag, according to school officials.

Officials say the Columbia County School District police responded to the school and the weapon was recovered.

The student is facing criminal charges along with consequences according to the code of conduct, according to school officials.

Aiken County schools host career, technology center community night

The Aiken County Public School District held a career and technology center community night on Tuesday.

“Safety of students and staff is a top priority, and we take incidents such as these extremely seriously and will investigate fully,” said Grovetown High in a letter sent to parents.
