Marcus Jones is having an outstanding season, and the Patriots made sure to extend his stay in New England for a few more years.

The Patriots announced on Tuesday that they agreed to a contract extension with Jones. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported that it’s a three-year, $36 million deal.

Jones has given New England’s secondary a huge lift this season, and Boston Sports Journal’s Greg A. Bedard had high praise for the 27-year-old corner.

“I think he’s become one of the best slot corners in the league,” Bedard said on Tuesday, via Patriots on CLNS.

Jones has been thriving in the slot this season. According to Pro Football Focus, he’s played 158 snaps there and allowed opponents to catch only 15 passes on 26 targets for 143 yards.
