(FOX40.COM) — The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has reported positive cases of avian flu in El Dorado County as birds begin to migrate.

Officials with CDFW said multiple Canada geese were found dead at Cameron Park Lake, and two were sent to the department for testing.

They both tested positive for bird flu, according to officials.

CDFW said that the flu has been found in Northern Californian wild birds since 2022, as many migrate with the disease and spread it.

The department confirmed that the avian flu has not impacted Sacramento or Yolo Counties, as no bird deaths were reported in those areas.
