CONCORD, N.H. —
The Executive Council has approved a plan to help Granite Staters who rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, as benefits are set to stop amid the ongoing federal government shutdown.
The council unanimously approved Gov. Kelly Ayotte's plan to work with the New Hampshire Food Bank's mobile pantry program.
The state will provide $2 million to help the mobile pantries reach SNAP recipients.
The Trump Administration has said it will not use money in a contingency fund to pay for SNAP benefits, even though Democrats say the fund was approved earlier this year to keep payments flowing in case of a government shutdown.
