THREE RIVERS, Mass. (WWLP) - The Three Rivers Fire Department has been sent to a large oil spill in and around the Chicopee River.
Three Rivers Fire Chief Stephen Nodurf told 22News that crews were called at around 11 a.m. Wednesday for an oil spill of approximately 150 gallons into the Chicopee River. Nodurf states that an oil delivery company was filling an underground oil tank when they realized it was spilling into the river.
The company advised the necessary authorities as the cleanup is underway. Firefighters set up equipment in the river, and the Wilbraham Fire Department launched a boat to assist with cleaning up the spill.
