Hurricane Melissa is making its way across Cuba as a Category 2 storm. It made landfall in Jamaica on Tuesday as one of the region’s strongest storms on record.
A Florida organization is packing emergency relief supplies, including hygiene items and essential goods, to send to affected areas in Jamaica.
They are working with volunteers to quickly assemble and distribute the kits.
Food For The Poor has been active in Jamaica for over 40 years, providing humanitarian aid and housing assistance.
Melissa is forecast to move into the Bahamas later Wednesday, with other regions bracing for its effects.
