New Delhi, Oct 29: The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on Wednesday announced an extension of the deadline for filing Income Tax Returns (ITRs) for assessees covered under sub-section (1) of Section 139 of the Income Tax Act, 1961. The due date for Assessment Year (AY) 2025–26 has been moved from October 31 to December 10, providing taxpayers additional time to comply with filing requirements.

Alongside, the CBDT has also extended the due date for furnishing audit reports for the Previous Year 2024–25. Initially due on September 30, 2025, and later extended to October 31, the new ‘specified date’ for submission has now been revised to November 10, 2025.
